GH4 Best Monitor Recommendation for GH4?

Just got my GH4 and after connecting my SMallHD monitor to it, turns out it's not compatible.

Any recommendations for an affordable monitor for the GH4? I do mostly run and gun shoots.

What SmallHD monitor? All mine work. Did you change settings to output 1080?

Yours all work? Which do you have? I have the DP6. Which settings should I adjust -- the camera or the monitor itself? A message had come up saying it would automatically output at 1080 if I'm not mistaken.

My DP6 works on the GH4... but I'll hijack the tread as I am looking for a new monitor in the 5-7 inch range, under 1K, focus assist, false colors.

My DP6 works perfect with my AF100, not with the GH4 though. Whenever I move from side to side there is pixelation at the top half that occurs. Support told me it's a design flaw and nothing can be done and basically I'm SOL. When I do image flip the issue isn't there anymore, but obviously not interested in viewing an upside down image while recording.

But yea, anything other than Small HD brand monitor and under $1k with 5-7 inch range, focus assist would interest me.

I'm using Alphatron evf and it works nice. No problems. But I'll switch to SmallHD sidefinder sooner or later. Actually I'm selling my alphatron as we speak...

I use the DP6 with a GH4 and also experienced the same tearing you do. What you need to do is (1) flip the image in the DP6 so it's upside down, (2) mount the DP6 upside down so the image appears right side up again. (3) get used to operating the external buttons and menu wheel from the opposite side.

The tearing goes away entirely when the image is flipped. I even turned the front bevel around so the SmallHD logo wasn't upside down anymore.

Here is SmallHD's official word on the matter. https://www.smallhd.com/support/faq/dp6-screen-tearing/

Thanks Zak...yea I realized it didn't have that issue on image flip but I didn't realize how easy it was to mount the monitor upside down. I've been so used to using it the way it is that I never even paid attention to it that closely. Guess I'll just continue to use it since it's technically still useable.

Well since my SmallHD DP6 (which works in non upsidedown mode with no tearing?) has turned all mustard green / yellow in cast. I picked one of these up on Amazon... and in the 20 minutes of playing around it seems pretty good for $369. Some have said the focus peaking is off - I just found it was not very aggressive. Scope might be low rez - but all I need to see is if they are clipping
and the false color is accurate. Love the 1-to-1 pixel preset its like being able to see the 100% crop if I were to drop it in an 1080 timeline... ie 1 push of the button I go from wide to c/u.
Seems fairly well built, not too heavy comes with a canon battery and plates to use sonys.

Uh the scopes look low res.

The Lilliput are generally pretty decent monitors, sometimes delay can be an issue, same as most other inexpensive monitors.

I'm using a TV Logic VFM 056 W with my GH4, works great. False colour, scopes, peaking etc. It didn't work initially with the GH4 as the EDID was old ( I had it before the GH4 release ) but sent it back to get it updated and now works like a charm.
