Best min-dv tape for the dvx

Is there a difference in the quality of your image you get when you use different brands of tape for the dvx-100b. I was doing a shoot for BET and one of the videographers
pulled out a tape and said that this one had the highest quality of all of them and
being incredible busy at the time I forgot which tape he was referring too. Does anyone
know or are all tapes virtually the same?

Panasonic MQ (Master Quality) is the minimum, but it won't make your picture better. Just fewer dropouts.

Like raisin bran for your DVX.

EDIT: Oh, and avoid Sony's, no matter what the quality--DON'T MIX BRANDS.

certainly Panasonic would recommend the MQ's but as lpcvideo1 put it, just don't mix brands. Different brands use different lubricant systems (some dry lube, some wet lube) so mixing and matching can be VERY hard on the heads.

Or, if you want the best of the best, you could always shoot with the Advanced Master Quallity tapes (AMQ).

I've shot about 30 ay-dvm63mq's and I haven't had a single dropout. and ****, they're like 4 bucks a piece. the hdv tapes im using are 12...
