Best Low Light Hd/hdv Camera

I am mixing a affordable HD/HDV cam with 2 sony 570's(2/3 cdd)
I have only tried the HVX200, and the JVC HD100.

They were both lacking compared to the 570's under studio lighting and the gain had to be adjusted on both.
The JVC was unusable under these circumstances as the color and noise from the higher gain looked like garbage.
The HVX did not seem to need as much gain, and performed quite bettter.Still somewhat noisy.
I like the HVX because of 4:2:2 for chromakeying....I kinda need a all-in-one solution...so I'm leaning towards the HVX.

Are any of the other cam's out there...canon or sony better with low light then the HVX?(for small HD/HDV sub $10,000)

Also is there better low light performance shooting progessive or interlaced?

Aren't the 570's interlaced?
Don't shoot the HVX in interlaced SD you will be prone to severe atifacting - jaggies on diagonal lines.

You might try to small Sony (Z1?). From what I've read on these boards, it's the cleanest of all these smaller cameras, and since it only shoots interlaced, it might mix in really well. Just a thought.

Ya, I may try the Sony Z1...
But would only consider it if it is signficantly better in lower light....I have heard it is less noisy as well.

Anybody out there have some insight into the Z1's lower light performance?

As a side note, I watched the studio daily video on the HVX in which they said the noise was mostly in the red CCD

That's absolutely true. The HVX has a REALLY hard time with the reds and anything red-ish (cherry wood cabinets are now the bane of my existence).
