Best Laptop for P2 Offloading

Hi All

I was wondering which laptop is the best to use in the field for unloading P2 cards. I don't want to tie up the camera, so I am looking for a laptop with PCMCIA ports and a long battery life.

I'm not wanting to edit with the laptop or do anything else with it except use it as an alternative to the P2 Store.

I don't think the laptop needs to be cutting edge, nor particularly light and small. In fact because we need PCMCIA and not Expresscard the laptop probably won't be too cutting edge. Do they make laptops that have two PCMCIA ports? or do they only come with one.

So which is the cheapest laptop with the longest Battery Life?

Is there a cheap laptop with two PCMCIA slots, and a long battery life? Or even better one with room for two batteries?

It should probably have firwire so we can offload to an external drive.

It would be great to start compiling a list of the best and cheapest laptop options for this purpose

cheers

I don't know about cheap, but the Thinkpads T43's have a 9volt battery giving about 6-8 hours of use. www.thinkpads.com (old ibms before sold to lenovo)

PCMCIA and 3 USB ports. NO firewire though. I'm using a PCMCIA card for that.

I'm using a 550mhz Powerbook G4 "Titanium" from 2001 (2002?), and it works great --- PCMCIA and Firewire (though no USB2.0). Are you looking for something new that you can edit on too, or just something for offloading (used perhaps)?

Definitly just wanting to talk about Laptops for offloading P2 cards. No editing required. I'm just wanting to find out if there is a big range in battery life and PCMCIA slot numbers.
