I'm doing an interview with an older subject - I'm talking massive bumps. How do I minimize bumps
I've played around with the detail levels etc. Anyone have any particular setting that works?
The picture is intensely sharp, all pores are super emphasized and so are the bumps.

Dial back detail settings in camera.

An off camera key light will emphasize imperfections in the skin.
Put a chimera or Kino right over your lens, and make sure it's a big source.

A soft source coming from near the lens and a soft focus filter added in post. However, I tend to like the texture and character of older people's faces in some instances, depending on the context it can add a lot to the believability of the person. For instance if you were doing an interview with a WW2 vet about the hardships of war you might like to accentuate every line and imperfection in the characters face. It all depends on the context.

DFX SoftFX filters in post (they're not cheap, you have to buy the whole package - Tiffen) - That's if you've already shot it - If not, Tiffen SoftFX 1/2 on the lens... I'm not promoting Tiffen, BTW, I have issues with their customer service policies, but their diffusion is good.

MAC translucent powder from the cute girl at the cosmetics counter + as Bill Totolo said, a big soft front key.

Also...

big fan of Schneider Classic soft filters.
Try Classic Soft 1/2.

And the fill light can be a 4x4 bounce such as foam core or bead board.
