Hello guys,

In your experience what is the best tool for run and gun shooting? The came TV single, the nebula 4000 or tools like the DJI Ronin M, Moza Lite or Defy G2X?
The Defy G2x with its compactness and portability looks nice but it's a little expensive...

I have owned the Moza Lite and now I own a Ronin M.

Moza has a stellar customer support but DJI doesn't.
The Ronin M is better, much better, I think that's because the built in encoders and the auto tune.

I would never buy a Defy because the Alexmos system sucks for newbies compared to other systems like DJI

Agree with this. I waited over a year after the nebula 4000 came out and really kept my eye on these gimbals. The Beholder has a lot going for it. It is well made, can be inverted (Came single can not be), holds more weight than others (and comes with a second plate if you are having balancing issues), and more.

I have found it easy to set up and have no complaints.

I love my N4000, but it was already over the maximum capacity spec with the a7S and vintage Leitz 24mm f/2.8, mounted on a quick-realease. The a7S II body is a bit heavier, I'm not sure it will work on that one, unless you leave the quick release out or go for super-light lenses.

Same for all other max-1Kg models.

Thanks for the answers.

For sure Ronin M and Letux Helix are nice tools, but for my kind of work, mostly documentaries, I think I need something more compact and low profile... May be something like the Beholder is the solution. But industry is so fast that may be it is better to wait for some months for something even more performant and at a good price...

Is this a A7s or A7sII? If it's the II then the IBIS isn't bad. I've done some fairly steady moves with it alone.

cheers
Paul

I have a nebula 4000 and tried a ronin M, the ronin is butter smooth but unwieldy, the battery lasts forever but it's expensive and you need to lug around a stand with you wherever you go. The nebula 4000 tends to jitter, is impossible to balance battery life is short and it's non-replaceable.

I'm *this close* to hitting buy on the Beholder DS1 to use with my A7s and A7rII. The gimbal is a little heavier than others, but the higher capacity, built in QR, and 32 bit board make it an attractive option. I'm mostly looking to use the 28/2 and the 16-35 when I want to go wider. The 28 would be fine on the lighter gimbals, but the 16-35 would be too much for the other one-handed models. The DS1 can take it judging by the videos posted of the 5d3 and the chunky 16-35/2.8. Plus you can go inverted on the fly without making any changes to the DS1.
