GH2 Best GH2 setup with no camera man?

Hello,

I often shoot video by myself so the workflow is very manual and slow. (yes, I shoot myself)
basically I set the camera to auto mode, and hit record button. Then, walk in front of camera and do my thing.
after I do my thing I walk up to the camera and hit the stop button.
of course I have to do that everytime so it takes time.

I really want to speed up my workflow so is there a better way to do this?

right now, I'm thinking about getting the Blackmagic intensity pro card so I can capture direclty to my Mac (kinda like a webcam), but is that possible?
I have FCPX and I'm not sure if it can capture thought hdmi....?

Also the second option I thought was, connecting the gh2 to an HDTV so I can watch while recording, and if there is a controller I can just controller everything in front of the camera.
but that is if there is a controller.
so I guess my second question is, is there a video controller for the gh2 ?

I don't want to invest in something that might not work so if anyone has advice, please let me know.
Thanks

I would look around for a remote, Although you may not have luck finding one to trigger the record, but Im about 99% sure there is one for shutter release. I know most camcorders have wireless remote controllers that come with them. From what it sounds like in your post, you would be better off with a camcorder than a dslr. have you thought about switching platforms for an easier workflow? I just don't see the pros of a dslr when using it in all auto mode.

No offsense, but this is a pretty bare workflow. Every suggestion I come up with would just add layers to what you're doing. Are you sure that switching things up will speed you up?

HDMI out on the GH2 is fine for monitoring (in 1080 mode only), but not for recording. You have to process the footage to get anything really usable and the only workflow I've seen for this utilizes VirtualDub, which is Windows only.

Thanks for the suggestion guys.
And thanks for the link to the remote controller too.
It looks like that might be the best solution for me.

I'm basically trying to setup a high end blogging camera so I can shoot video everyday and post it.
And since I had the gh2 I just wanted to know if it might work or not.

btw, is there a camera that can be captured live via firewire(or something) to FCPX that's HD?
if there is that might be the best setup for me so please let me know.

HVX-200 and HPX-170 can do it. Probably HDV cameras too (Canon HV20 or HV30 being one of the cheapest you can find)

I've had experiences where the camera stops by itself randomly (especially with the hacks) In this situations, having a camera operator is highly recommended to check the recording status.
