Best filter for cutting wind noise

Was shooting some practice footage for a friend working on interview skills today. It was fairly windy and I just used the shotgun mic on the camera to record audio. I usually use my sennheiser wireless gear when doing the real deal, but today I didnt.
I need to filter out the wind as best as possible, so which audio filter should I use. I have FCP 7 with the standard filters from Apple and Final Cut Pro.

Thanks,
JD

Honestly... the "reshoot filter" is your only hope.

A low-cut (aka hi-pass) EQ will help a little by taking out the low-end rumble, but you will be left with distortion artifacts across pretty much the rest of the spectrum and nothing can be done about that.

Yes, well, There's always that pesky reshoot option, but I want to work on my post skills to present him with a halfway decent, i.e. watchable file he can use. This is a one time only shoot as he is out of town starting tomorrow.

Yeah I don't know of a filter that completely removes wind noise. You can try washing it through the Noise Reduction plug in in Soundtrack Pro but that is best for a constant noise like electrical hum, etc. And it leaves weird sounding artifacts if you apply it aggressively. Take it as an important lesson- don't skimp on the production sound- it's difficult/impossible to really fix in post.
