What's the best file to upload that looks good but reasonable size. I've been using WMV 1080p, but it's about 165mb for 90 sec. 1.822 mbs. The last one failed after 4 hours at 80% finished. My internet service isn't the best where I am at the moment. Is there a better way?
I've been using the Sony MP4 encoder in Vegas MS10 at 20mbps and getting spectacular results. The output is actually averaging about 16mbps and a 3 minute file is about 350megs. It's H.264 video and AAC 48khz audio in the mp4 wrapper.
I use handbrake to recode to H.264 (at around 15Mbps) and encapsulate on mkv, as I've found this to be the most universal option; and I have no doubt someone will come here now and point to a scenario where this leads to some kind of issue...
I don't use high level settings because it hurts compatibility, but I still get a really good output at a relatively small file size with no color bug.
I had bad results exporting to H-264 directly from the timeline with Adobe encoder so I export full uncompressed and transcode my delivery file with Procoder 3 or Streamclip. I just converted my uncompressed file with Streamclip to H-264 1080p at 50% and it looks good.
In fact, check this out. It is for Vegas users but I am sure it is constructive, none the less. This came about after long discussions on the vegas boards.
