Best FCP settings for a 5D Feature Film?

Hello, I'm about to shoot my first feature film on the Canon 5D with very professional lenses and camera gear. I want to give my editor the best information I can from people who have already done a short film or feature with the 5D.
Can anyone please tell me the best way to go about transferring the footage so that we get the best quality and resolution we can in the edit. Also we do plan on this being seen on a large movie screen so please take that into consideration.
Any advice would be great, we have the latest version of Final Cut Pro.
Thanks
MCG

Simple: get the log & transfer plugin from Canon (somewhere on the 5DII support page), use that to load footage to FCP, it will convert it to ProRes422 codek. That format is much easier to edit and it keeps the original quality intact.

The only downsides are that it takes about 3 times real time to do the conversions using a normal Mac. The file size also grows over threefold to about 90 GB/hour. So take this into consideration when planning the workflow and when getting hard disks for the project.

Thanks Petrus, that helps a lot. I would like to set my footage conversion to Prores HQ to keep it at the highest quality. Would that be a good idea?

Transcode to ProRes 422 with Compressor is what we've been doing. I can see nothing wrong with using HQ...might not derive much benefits but if you're willing to do it might as well to be safe.

I use FCP and do the above....

Although I have done some higher end TVC's that use Flame and Inferno and they we're not too big on quicktime...

Was shooting on a HPX502 and I think they went for still image sequence...

Cheers
