Best Ext. Monitor Options for GH1

Okay maybe I'm daft but I've searched through the forums here and through google and haven't been able to find any recommendations for the best monitor for the GH1. Now I now it doesn't provide monitoring during recording, but for setting up the shot and playback, a nice decently priced monitor would be fantastic. I'm looking at the ones from lilliput, but there are so many options I don't know where to start.

Also I'm kind of confused by when the specs say 800 x 600 up to 1920 x 1080, does that mean it will deliver a full 1080p image if connected through the mini HDMI port on the Gh1?

Keep in mind this I'm on a budget, the lilliputs are anywhere from 200 to 300 bucks which is a good median I think for this use.

HELP A BROTHA OUT!

I've been able to view a 1920x1080 image from the camera using the miniHDMI port. The connection is a little dicey anfd that makes the image come and go on the monitor, but it looks good. I use a Hanns G monitor that I borrow from work (don't tell anybody).

Is it okay to just use a computer monitor hooked up via hdmi to dvi adapter if you're just checking focus and frame?

Composite out happens when i connect and hold the trash button. It works. but not a sharp signal. still enough for framing, wouldn't say focus. EVF works better for me.

I'd not bother with more than a 720 px wide monitor. i doubt the signal coming out is any more than that, if i'm wrong i'd be happy :)

Which port do you use to view on a monitor? I tried with the RCA cable and only was able to see playback, not monitoring. I only want to use the monitor to check framing & focus.

I wish I knew but hopefully it wont be that long. I've seen people post it elsewhere especially in other camera sites so it looks like it's going to be very popular when it's finally released.

It seams like the perfect low cost monitor for a camcorder and the perfect portable TV because of the tuner.

I used it for one project, again using an HDMI cable, but it was impractical because it was only really good to playback clips. For focus checking, I switch to MF on the focus dial then use the function that zooms the image on the LCD. That works fine as long as the actors stay on their marks. :-)
