best export...

I'm trying to find the best export setting for vimeo...

Right now I'm experimenting with the HD sizes (720 and 1080)

What should my frame rate and key frame be? I film in 24p (f5) Squeeze mode and edit with FCE on a 29.97 timeline.

Vimeo says 29.97 for frame rate and 30 key frames...

Does this sound good?
I'm exporting as an MP4 at 1800kbps (as per vimeo)

if anyone has any suggestions please pass them my way. I'm just trying to find the best option.

ok first of all, get rid of the pulldown on your footage if you want any type of good looking footage. Next, edit on a 24p timeline. Then you can think about exporting in HD. Your SD won't even look good if its still interlaced when you're upconverting.

I would like to edit on a 24P timeline but I have to work with what I got. Which is express :-(
only 29.97
oh that sucks for you :(

Are you able to get some kind of program that will remove the pulldown on the footage? I heard of some "cinema tools" thing for mac

Thanks ryvac... I used that as a starting point. I've seen some stuff on vimeo that blew me away. Much better then what my stuff is being compressed too... I guess I was over analyzing everything.

I import my edtied 25p DVAVI footage into QT and export like this:
Compression H.264
Quality High
Frame rate 25
Bitrate 1500kbps
Frame reordering yes
Encoding mode multi pass
Dimensions 1024x576

Audio format is AAC @96kbps 44.1khz
and set keyframes to automatic

Vimeo handles this fine and playback is as good as it gets for SD footage.

thanks ryvac. Dude you gotta go h.264. I just specify the sequence 23.98 and capture settings with pull down when I shoot and cut 24pa. If you shoot squeeze just click the anamorphic box on each too.
