I generally use Compressor for the, well, compressing of video. I compress videos for web, dvd, etc. What are the best settings for exporting hd video to sd dvd. There's lots of settings for this, and I don't know which one is the best. I use idvd to burn the dvds. Also, how do I deal with some of the aliasing that shows up when I play the dvd back on a tv?

Thanks

I've yet to compress in fcp studio 3, but for best results (as far as I know) is to export or send to via compressor, then when in compressor choose best quality dvd default - choosing the time closest to your movies running time. Then if needed tweak whatever in it needed ie aspect ratio.

After that build your dvd in dvd studio pro use the files from compressor (mpeg-2 and .ac3) as assets to build a dvd placing them together in a track.

You should export to QuickTime with Current Settings (same as your Timeline) and either Self Contained or as a Reference movie. Make sure that the option to "Recompress al Frames" is off.
I prefer Self Contained as it makes a master file that is not dependant on the continued presence of the original footage and render files.

Bring that file into Compressor and apply the DVD preset that the running time of your project fits into. Import the resulting MPEG 2 and ac3 files into DVD Studio Pro and author your disc.
