Best equipment for on the go?

Hey guys, for the next few months, I will be living in a new city without a place to live (my parents stole thousands of dollars from me, will not pay for an operation that will allow me to live for more than two more years, and I have absolutely no other amount of money to my name. As well, I have no friends, and because of my health issues, I cannot get most any job you could think up.) With all that, though, self-employed videography is one thing I can easily do, both because its what I'm studying and because essentially, I don't need an office at all. I figure I can backpack most my equipment and advertise by card and word of mouth to small businesses and artists in the area (plenty of that, I'll be living in one of the biggest cities in ny state). While I'm generally stuck in the streets, I also planning on trying to make some sort of documentary to pass the time, but I'm not sure what the style or subject will be yet, probably will focus on homeless folk and such.

But again, my goal is to have a completely backpackable gear package that enables me to have everything I need right then and there. I already have a T2i and I'm fixing to buy a 18-200mm and selling my 18-55mm and 75-300mm. I also have a 50mm 1.8, 3 batteries, ect ect. A gorilla pod is perfect for my purpose (serves as both a tripod and a decent shoulder stable), but it seems weak and the essential head is EXPENSIVE. I plan on having collapsible white balance cards and reflectors, a timer remote, and a mic that can fit on top of the camera. Additionally, I'll have a few filters and minor items. Mainly, I'm worried about how I'll edit videos, they make tiny laptops that'd probably be perfect for minor editing and sound work. Overall, I figure that the most dangerous part is carrying $2000 worth of stuff on my back, but the exchange is that I figure I can make $100 a day if a stay busy. That's $3000 a month, and while I'm sure homelessness is tough, theres absolutely no alternative and 3 months of rare showers is easier than the things I've been though. Plus at that rate, I'd be able to pay for all my operations decently!

So really, main question, what are some great tools that help out in the "on the go" process? Like the lens, I'm planning on getting a 18-200\300mm IS lens, but are there any good sub-$300 deals? About tripods like the gorilla pod or other small tripods/shoulder supports, whats the absolutely best sub-$100 tool? Anything you guys know of that'd help would be insanely good.
