Best effects program compatible with FCP?

Hey guys, I'm getting into editing music videos, specifically more alternative/hardcore types of bands and I was wondering what effects programs you guys use or think would be best for me to get. I have heard good things about After Effects, but I don't know if its compatible with FCP....please let me know your thoughts and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Motion comes with FCS2 and can do a lot, also Color will be of great use for CC your videos - both you already have.
There still is Shake (400$), but it´s future is uncertain...
Check the Apple site for more info.
AE basically is "compatible" with every editor, you just have to export and import your stuff (I think QT reference movies work, but I havn´t used AE on a mac...) and knowing AE probably is a good thing for all editors working freelance...
All the best!

After Effects, nothing compares. especially if you want to do unique creative work.

HAHAHAHAHAA.... unique and creative... but do what Andrew Kramer does. I can't tell you how many local commercials (and national ones) I've seen his 'unique creative work' on.

Funny.

(I get your point though)

I would mostly need a program that does quick effects, like burns, static, grainy filter, light flashes etc...does After Effects have some plugins that do those sort of things?

A lot of the effects pulgins made for AE will work in FCP and there are many made for FCP. So for what you have said you want to do you can do it in final cut pro. After effects can render on a sub pixel level so you can create very fine line work at very high rez. There are many things that AE is better for but you should be able to do what you want in fcp and motion and color as well as shake which was stated by the other guys already.

Good luck.

For your coloring...if you want to bypass the semi steep learning curve of Apple's Color, check out Magic Bullet Looks! Fantastic intuitive interface and grading...I love using it for quick fixes that need to look very Hollywood. Works with Adobe, Apple, and Sony! I highly recommend it.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input so far. I think my original question may have been a little unclear. Last night I downloaded the free trial from sapphire plug ins...and if anyone has used that, thats really more of what I was asking about. So let me ask now, what kinds/brands of plug in programs do you guys think is the best?? I only know of sapphire but I think its pretty good. Any other ideas?? Thanks so much!

You mean plug-ins- that's really up to a what do you need sort of thing. Sapphire is the best as far as variety and look but it's also dang expensive.
