Hey everyone...quick question here. what is the best media disk out there to burn onto if you are going to have that as your master. i.e. the disk you will send to the plant for mass production??

Darkest dye disks. Deep Purple man...Rytek are pretty good.
Works for me...I'm sure their are lots of other options but thats's what works for me.

Verbatim, Ritek or ProDisc are the winners. They all work well and are the ones most consistent at playing correctly on all dvd players. You should have no problems with any of those brands.

ive very good things about prodisc but they are hard to find does anyone sell them there in the usa. also is it true that prodisc works best with pioneer burners and not the sony so well?

my understanding is that Tayo Yuden is one of the best manufacturers of optical media, I only use TY. Other are Ritek, Ricoh, off the top of my head. Mark

ProDisc is available at Meritline. I bought the inkjet prinable ones (8x) and they work fine. The printing surface is more of a pearl finish than the bright "paper white" of the Riteks, but I like the look.
Also, Meritline frequently has free shipping offers on these in quantities of 100.
Hope this helps.

I second the Meritline suggestion, have had great success with ProDisc, but also can recommend Ritek and Tayo. They have frequent specials on all of them and some free shipping offers as mentioned above.

i went to that meritline website i saw the prodisc but i did not see any dual layer dvds by prodisc do they sell them?

I must have gotten a bad spindle of ProDisc, but out of the first 30 discs, only 8 of them worked. I sent them back and got my usual. Taiyo Yuden. Probably burned around 350 with no failures. I will say though that I've never had any TDK failures either, but only burned about 50 of them.
I get them whenever they go on special at

did they give u grief when u returned them? also what brand of burner are u using cuz ive hear prodisc works best with pioneer.

I try to get Verbatim dvd-r's when they're on sale. They're pretty reliable, IMO. I got some fuji discs and they stink! 1 out of every 5 or so is a dud, so I only use them to burn off copies of test footage.

Memorex DVD-R have become my favorite. I've used them to reliably burn DVD-R masters that were in turn sent to replicators to make the glass masters for tens of thousands of pressed DVD copies.
