best codec to use when converting from avi for FCP???

Because the Nikon D90 d-movie clips are avi I was just wondering what would be the best codec to use when converting from ".avi" via Quicktime????

Should I go with Apple Pro Res? H264? Apple Intermediate?

Not sure which codec to use to bring into Final Cut Pro 6.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

i edit them as is, unless you go with an uncompressed codec you lose a generation otherwise, but prores is close enough to lossless and it's a great realtime performer in fcp so that would be my pick.

Most people I've talked to use Pro Res when working in FCP6. When using FCP5 I've found Apple Intermediate to work the best which I covered in Round 5 of my D90 blog.
