Hello, simple question : what is the best codec to export GH13 vids in the best possible quality with an acceptable weight, with Sony Vegas ?
MP4 ? If so, Sony AVC or Main concept ?
Any specific settings I should know about ?
For editing, I edit directly on the AVCHD .mts straight from the GH1, I could probably work faster or in a better preview quality converting before, but I never tried.
Anyway, my question was mostly about the output render.
Not planning to preview on any particular platform, since it's for a Net broadcast.
So, I did a few researchs myself since I created this topic, and I guess Cineform and Lagarith are the best paying alternatives ? Any notable difference between those two ?
And, for someone who's not using any paying codecs, what is the best one to use ? (I'll probably work on a computer that doesn't have cineform or lagarith soon, only Sony Vegas)
Sorry to double post, but I'd like to ask one last time, just in case.
In Vegas, and without having any paying codecs like Cineform or Lagarith, what would be the best option for the render ?
The Avid DNxHD QuickTime codec is free, and is basically like ProRes. Useful for a top-quality archive when rendering out from the NLE.
It's also great for transcoding from the .mts files before editing (what it's meant for!) Much smoother to edit with. Use 5DtoRGB for this.
