Best Cinema Setting 24P 2.0.7

Hello

I am Red 1 Camera owner operator. I have spec'd a music video to be shot on the 5d

I need the facts for best shooting. I have read a few things here and there and am not sure what to commit to. Philip bloom says to lower your sharpness and contrast 3 bars and the sat 2 bars in picture style. Is this true? he is saying this gives you two more stops of latitude.

So a few questions

I will be grading this video in apples color, but the images are h264 so wouldn't you want to leave the sat and sharpness in the files?

What is the best ISO for day EXT and Night Ext? How far can i push the noise at night (been hearing a lot about multiples of 160 but what is the default settings?)

I uploaded firmware 2.0.7, does this automatically put me in 24p, if not how do i change it?

What is the best Shutter speed to use for 24p (i am guessing 50)?

Also reading that there are some cracks to give you 1:85 and 2:35 bars for framing. Anyone use this with 2.0.7 and is it good?

Anything else that I would need to know would be awesome for BEST setting for cinema.

Thank you

My most important question here is with the upgrade is the camera automatically in 24p, if not how do I change it

Stu covers the flat settings approach pretty well here:

The quick-start manual will show you how the menus work and you'll quickly be able to find things like how to specify the video resolution, etc. Yes, it works at 24p by default if I remember correctly. If not, it's an easy change that you only have to make once.

Shutter speed - yes, 50

2.0.7 works fine - just shot continuously with it for 6 hours with it last week.

In my experience, you can push it up to 2000 ISO if you absolutely have to, but the catch is that there has to be light. You'll want to experiment with the ISO settings before you shoot something critical in low light.

With low light, it might not be an issue, but having a Fader ND or some other type of variable ND is essential for shooting in full daylight (duh).

The in camera NR does a good job if you need to be at a high ISO and don't really care about your details smoothed out.

Once you have put the firmware update on your card you put it in your camera and therer will be a firmware update button, once you have upgraded it the option to use 24p will automatically be there under Live view mode seetings

DO NOT USE STU'S SETTINGS!

even stu says he doesnt use them anymore unless its a very bright outdoors scene.

HTP adds a TON of noise.
