I'm looking to review the best cameras for shooting 8mm and Super 8mm film. Any suggestions where to start?

Brands and models number greatly appreciated.

Well, there is really only one Super 8 camera to use for 24 frame negative film and it's the Beauleiu 9008Pro. These were available through Super 8 Sound in Burbank for years - check around to see if they still have / rent them.

A list of features is here.

The 9008 is the cream of the crop and a brilliant camera, although a bit noisy. The 7008 and 6008 can also use crystal-sync 24fps modules too; I had a 6008PRO and it was phenomenal.

For what its worth My GAF 505 is a really nice camera. The stuff I've shot on it looks pretty "pro"...and if youre lucky you can pick it up for less than 50 bucks.

You might at the same time checkout 16mm and super 16mm on ebay...it might be in your budget and a better film stock. Unless you are set on only 8mm for a particular look.
