best camera for a 1080p documentary film???

I'm currently planning my next doc-film and am hoping to make it in 1080p, but I'm not sure what camera to get for this approach.

Is there any on the market that can shoot 1080p at 30fps?

I currently have a Panasonic GH1, and I've considered the 1080p option only since it shoots at 24p in 1080, it might be more trouble than its worth for me to shoot at that frame rate (low frame rate, strobe, jello)

The ideal would be 1080/60p or 1080/30p.

Hoping for any feedback or advice.

Thanks very much in advance,

- Nick

The next 5D will be the one to beat for image impact, but the current 5D has a few too many things missing, and the firmware upgrades will be a band-aid compared to new hardware/software on the next model direct from the factory. Remember the 5D is already pretty old technology being out for 18 months if I'm not wrong. I think the firmware upgrades and the next 5D model will be out around the same time, but that's just speculation. These days that may as well be 5 years. The T2 is a good camera to get warmed up with while waiting and you can't loose much selling it over the next 6 months. That's my plan, and I like what is coming out of the 2T so far, I'm developing a documentary with one now and will post some results when they are presentable.

t2i would fit your needs... but I would go with a 7D if your looking for some feature upgrades over the GH1. You also would be loosing features only the GH1 offers, but most of them are not very important in the film world...

Thanks everyone. Actually I love the GH1 so much, I was very much hoping that Panasonic would unveil the rumored GH2 when they released the other M 4/3 cameras a few weeks ago. But I heard rumors of a September GH2 release. I find the swinging LCD of the GH1 nearly indispensable. But I will look into the other options you all recommended. Thanks again.

I might be wishing for the moon here. But I did hear vague rumors that Panasonic was planning 1080/30p for the GH2. Then of course there's Red Scarlet, but still no word on a definitive release date. If I knew Scarlet's release was sure to be 2010, I would definitely wait.
