Hello
I am looking for a good and cheap pro camcorder I can use to shoot wedding.
Is the
Sony HVR-1000U the best on the market at it's price?

thanks

ive used both the dvx and a sony fx7 for weddings, for SD go with 2 dvxs to match image. if HD, the fx7 is cheapest, but the xha1 is best value perhaps.

I love the fx7 for run and gun shooting. im actually selling it to upgrade to the v1u which has 24p 30p and 60i all at 1080 HD

I sold my dvx however I am looking to go HD!
I might wait on the new line of HD camcorders before I reinvest into an equipment!

I really like V1U's for wedding videos. They have a very nice look to them and they are small and compact. I believe they retail for less than four thousand.

I shoot weddings with two XHA1's, great cams! I use to shoot with PD170's and don't regret going HD, would never touch SD again. Don't wait, HDV is a good format to work in.

That EX1 might be the camera you should wait for. More expensive but for weddings it might be worth it. great low light, more cinematic depth of field, faster workflow (no tape). Find a used one of those and you should be great.

Going tapeless is great for the post workflow in the studio but I think you start to run into a little bit of trouble shooting a hectic unpredictable event such as a wedding. For 1 cam it's alright but when you hit 2 and 3 cameras it's start to get a little troublesome.

Silverwolf I'm not sure what you mean, but tapeless is so much easier to manage, a few memory cards each with a number on, and the ability to write-protect.

infact in the HMC150 you can put one card in each camera, and get the same as three tapes on there!
