Best blu-ray discs?

How many of you are actively giving clients blu-rays... or are you still mostly giving dvds still?

For blu-ray.. what are you authoring the disc with, and what brand of bd-r are you using?

I was using these printable Optical Quantum that came in a blu-ray case (the standard blue one with the blu-ray logo) that were about $3 each and my favorite because they came with that real blu-ray case... but they disappeared! I can't find them for sale anymore!

I produce Blu-ray discs every now and then. For authoring I use Encore CS4.

For discs I buy TDK or Panasonic discs by the spindle. I avoid LTH discs just to be safe. They're cheaper, but may see compatibility problems, so if I'm distributing discs that is best to be avoided.

I just buy the cases separately for when they are necessary.

Do you get the standard blu-ray cases with the logo that fit with all other blu-rays? Where do you get them?

I'm in Tokyo, so what is available here is probably different.
But the cases I got are either gray or clear, and they are the same size and design as the regular Blu-ray cases (the type without the latch that flips over the clamshell closure) and they don't have the Blu-ray logo on them.

Regular blue Blu-ray cases are available, but I don't really like blue as a case color.

I only give one Blu-Ray disc out with each wedding package...i.e. I typically one BD per week....although rarely someone will order 3-4 extras. I think I've only been through about 60-70 Blu-Rays so far, and all of them have been Ritek 25-pack hub printable and earlier non-hub-printables. DAMN....they're down to $40 a pack!!! I think I paid over $100 for my last order!!!

They were the cheapest 25-pack printables at the time...that's why I use them. If TY does/has come out with some, I'll switch. I'm a hard-core TY DVD fan.

So far I've had like 2 compatibility complaints with the Ritek, but from what I could gather both were using 1.0 Blu-Ray players. I resent both of those clients AVC versions instead of MPG2, and one said it still didn't work, even though she took the first one to Best Buy and it played on every BD player there.

I typically render with Vegas, author with DVDA, and burn with Nero Burning ROM...or sometimes burn with DVDA. Playback has never been a problem with my Panny BD Player...a DMP-BD30. The GH1 on 1080p Blu-Ray...with no color "enhancements" or heavy filters...trips me out on Blu-Ray, compared to my old HDV Sony cams!

I quit trying to make cheesy printed case inserts to make wedding videos look like Hollywood movies years ago...and Epson's stock prices plummeted. I was able to switch from Schlitz to Budweiser. I just put their DVD/BD's in "tin" cases...obviously not something I'd do with an indie film or corporate job.

BD's that go on my own home video rack just go in plain plastic DVD cases with a Bother P-Touch label on the side.

Good luck!
