Best 35mm Adapter

Hello folks,
My name is Massimo and I live in Italy, having to buy an adapter for 35mm lenses for my PANASONIC HVX-200 which it is the best one (Quality/Price)?
Redrock M2, P+S, ZACUTO, CINETEK, Cinevate... or other one...
Please give a suggestion to me.
Thank You.

I have the Brevis by Cinevate which has been awesome. I've never seen a bad piece of footage from the M2. Aside from the P+S (at 8k) these are probably your best options with the HVX. I had a letus flip but the mechanism was unable to disperse the grain, and the HVX picks up a huge amount of detail including the the moving grain.

I'm planning on getting an HVX and either a Brevis or an M2 in the next week. Just curious, what made you choose the brevis over the M2?

Vyger,

Ricordisi di questo, voi ottengono che cosa pagate. Ora sopra a

I have been deciding between the M2 and the Brevis for months. After seeing footage from both I fail to see any differences as far as image quality. I've seen great stuff from both units. I ordered a Brevis in the end and am waiting for it now. I based my final decision on wait time, which was shorter on the Brevis, and I like the form factor of the Brevis much more over the M2...it just looks cooler! :D

As far as visual appearance of the two adapters, i like the M2 better. As well as the more professional website and support center, those are what swayed me to the M2. Redrock is top notch so far, matching their pro look with the pro support i need and expect.

Both produce amazing results!! But IMO (in my opinion) i think the M2 footage has the slight edge.

I will be doing a comparison and review of the Brevis and the M2 by the end of the month - I know how many people out there are on the fence about both of these units - I will be using 4 nikkor lenses, filmming several different objects and locations for comparison so that we may finally put this to rest ... then I'll be selling off one of them because I ain't that rich!!!

Peace

Looking foward to it rgd! Ill for sure be wating! User created reviews are always the best!

ok I had a M2 and sold it like a week after I got it because you had to zoom in to far on the camera that it crops the picture off so everything shot on the m2 seems cramped. If anyone has anywide angle m2 footage I would love to see it. Get the pro35 p+s

I don't think that the "cramming" effect has too do with your HVX being zoomed in. After all, you are only reading what is being projected onto the GG.

It would most likely be the size of the 35mm lense you were using. If you are using a 200mm lense, then of course you are going to have cramming, but any normal 50mm wouldn't give you that look.

imseth,
How hard did you work on your M2 set-up ?

If your motor was too high then you would have needed to zoom in too far, but that's not hard to adjust.
I now get exactly the same field of view as a 35mm lens on an SLR. Wide angle lens gives wide angle results. Totally straightforward.

hey lenni?

Any help on moving the internal guts of the M2? I dont think mine needs any adjustment, but just in case i do need to adjust it in the future and cant wait for an answer , getting the info now would be a good way to keep my butt covered in the future. thanks

I have an M2, it's great, but I don't like the weight and light loss. The Brevis from what I understand is much lighter and loses less light. I believe the M2 is sharper though. I'm probably going to buy the Brevis and keep the one I like more. Keep in mind the M2 wait time is about a month and a half.

edit: it appears someone on this board recently only had a week wait before the M2 was shipped. not sure if this is the norm now, however

i've heard a couple people mention that they were going to do a benchmark test of the Brevis and the FF M2 . .

has anyone followed through on this one yet?

i personally went with the brevis because i could see very little difference with image quality, yet the brevis comparisons suggest less light loss, and the brevis is lighter. both adapters seem to produce excellent images though. dont think you can go wrong with either one. Another thing to consider is that the brevis requires much less set up than the m2. once the brevis achromat is initially set up it can be left there.

Shot a feature with the M2.. It's great.. You need to watch footage then judge for yourself..
The M2 just seems to have a bit of an edge over the Brevis in image quality (that I've seen) Also in the few tests, I think the color reproduction with the M2 is a bit better..

But then again, I've only seen a few things shot with the Brevis, and a few hundred with the M2..

Good luck..
