Best 35mm Adapter?

I think im going to get the HVX over scarlet. I found out that 2k is only like 150 lines more resolution than 1080p. So, i decided to get HVX and a 35mm. Wondering what the best one would be?

like everyone else has said - search the forum. there is an ASSLOAD of info here.

just to prep you. there is no single BEST adapter. all the current major players (sgpro, brevis, redrock, letus) do a fine job. its just a matter of trade offs between price/lightloss/ease of use/flip functionality and your own personal preference.

I agree, but remember, a 35mm adapter doesn't come with lenses, filters, mattebox, more lights, follow focus, expensive tripod, etc. If panasonic does announce a new product with capabilities outdoing the current hvx, then second hand hvx' would fill the marketplace probably at a price to where you could purchase more accessories needed to making a 35mm kit work. Just remember, a 35mm adapter and all the skills needed to go along with it will definitely take some time to learn. You would probably would be better of using the hvx solo for a while, where you could learn how to use a professional camera. From what I can tell, you use an auto everything handycam, but want to purchase better gear to make your videos better. I'm not trying to be a downer, but you've got a lot to learn and I think thats why you came to an amazing site with loads of information to help you in the filmmaking process.

anytime you ask "what's the best....whatever" on this site, people will just tell you to get what they have. each one of the different adapters have thier own set of pros and cons. i would say go with one of the major ones, redrock, brevis, letus, sgpro, or mini35. they are all good. do a little research and the right answer will become obvious.

I would still wait until after NAB though just in case Panasonic surprises us with something new.

Im going to say it looks like he is looking to buy now, and if panasonic does surprise with a new product it will still be some time before it hits the market.

Yeah but it could affect the price of the HVX if they announce something new. And its only another three weeks or so.

Wow, so the HVX is 150 lines less than 2k. I didn't think the HVX was that high. I used the Brevis with the HVX and it worked well. You will need a portable monitor to help you focus. You can't zoom in and focus with primes.

mateebox and filters are certainly lower on the list of NEED items. but when you do need them - THEY BECOME CRUCIAL!

moviemaker999 makes a very good point. there are a TON of peripheral things you will NEED to work with ANY adapter you choose.

baseplate+rods and a follow focus are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL if you want to get effective results out of an adapter.

and remember. digital SLR lenses arent optimal for a 35mm adapter. what you'll want are good old manual focus fast lenses.

a very basic fully rigged adapter set up with lenses is going to be about $3000 after all is said and done.

this is only my personal opinion,
but let break it down to letus vs. Brevis and Redrock vs. Sgpro (because they are similer)
then, I find the Letus wins over Brevis and Sgpro wins over Redrock.(personal opinion again)
so for me it's down to the Letus & Sgpro. but I don't know which one is better??
does anyone know if the Letus Extreme can shoot 60i fps & 1/120 shutter speed at F5.6 without any problem?
if it can do that, I would vote for the Letus Extreme!!!!
if not I would say the Sgpro!!
