F3: Berger Canon EF to Sony F3 Lens Adaptor.... Who has one ... Is it out yet ?

Nikon is not harder- it is still time consuming and expensive development. To get Canon to where we are took quite a bit more effort from our incredibly talented , experienced and dedicated team. Nikon is coming- no doubt about it.

Hi Jacek,

Is there a European distributor or dealer for the lens adapter?

And another question: what are the minimum stop increments of the aperture on this new version?

Any chance of posting a picture of it. To bad I couldn't spot it on IBC. Just came back yesterday.

Greetings,

David

I've been disappointed that all the powered lens adapters have been for Canon lenses presumably because you need to power the damn things just to control the iris. However a mechanical iris is always far preferable for an operator - even on a G lens with adapters like Optitek. That's one reason why Nikon lenses have been preferred by Sony owners up till now. Also they tend to be parfocal more often and they can always be adapted to Canon for DSLR's when needed.

I guess there must be a larger market for Canon adapters because of the DSLR market.

The extras that come with a powered adapter however are what I miss - IS or VR and sometimes auto or remote focus controls. Ultimately we would all be served better with those solutions on a Nikon, but who knows if we'll ever see them. I may switch to Canon in the meantime just to get IS.

Anyone has news about Prime Circle XE-EF/FZ Pro E-Mount for Sony F3/F5/F55? it seems very interesting piece of gear!

@Optitek: does the new model draw power from the F3? or does it need to be powered from a brick? and where could I see some info about it, and potentially order one? thx

The new model (mark 2) indeed draws power from the FZ mount so no more power cable. It also sends data through the mount so the lens information (F stop, distance, FL for zooms) is displayed in the view finder and embedded in the video file.
You can contact me directly to order or order through our dealers.
Ask the one you usually deal with for the OptiTek Canon ProLock-i to FZ mount adapter.

Hi Jacek,

Is an electronically controlled Nikon F-mount to Sony FZ Optitron (for Nikon G Lenses) ever likely to surface?

So it works on the F3 to? That's great:) But where is the adapter described on your site? All I found was this site: http://optitek.org/ Is this your site, or am I missing something?

Optitek Mark 2 is indeed labelled "Birger Engineering". Connected to the F55 it ran a canon EF lens without and power cable run to it. Very cool. Fstop in the VF was actually a Tstop...

Here's one for ya: could a speedboster be attached on the mk2? If an EF to EF speedboster existed that is... Or would the distance between the sensor and the adapter be two great?
