Belt-driven IGUS 1040 slider

Anyone come up with a good way to guard the rails? The slightest ding and carriage will "catch" each time it hits the imperfection. A lightweight thin-aluminum or even plastic guard would be ideal, but the profile of the guard would have to large enough to allow the carriage to move under it. Any ideas?

Insulation foam,
Can be found at your local home depot...they usually have slits in them that you can fit around the rails

Re bodged the slider with some odds and ends, so the motor is fixed to the rail, hoping this way will work better...will post some video when I get a chance.

I was sent a sample rail from iGus and it had a very slight ding in it. You're right that it produced a bump each time. I'm thinking that a "Trough" made of a wood base (Say 1"x4 or 6") and 1/4 ply sides that rose above the rails, wide enough to clear the trolley and tall enough to stop something that falls from above, yet not interfer with the function of movement, video head tilts Etc.. Some sort of 1/4 ply cover (velcro-ed/) for transport. I like the idea of pipe insulation also, in conjuction for transport.
