Belt-driven IGUS 1040 slider

Nice!

Can you supply a little more detailed list of supplies? What blocks are you using to hold the bearings? are these custom made or off ebay?

Thanks

I take it you replaced that bearing with one that has a 1/4"ID? or used a sleeve?

No, the bearings are the same size as the ones in skateboard wheels. I used the plastic spacer from the skateboard wheels to reduce the interior opening to 1/4"

THANK YOU!
How are you finding those within Ebay??? I looked for 30 min.
I wish I could find one "buy it now" or in McMaster Carr.

Yes, would be much nicer to get them from a real store.

I searched for "5/16 bearing block".

you could probably make one with a block of wood and a 5/16 bore bearing

just drill the outside diameter of the bearing and fit the bearing into the block

Hello, I'm new here but love making camera bits and bobs...made my own Igus belt driven slider the other day.

Sorry for slow reply...don't get the chance to come here often! I'm rebuilding the gizmo, had some problems with the drive wheel jumping on vertical climbs, so am now going to mount the motor on the end of the track. Will post up when she's done!

Anyone come up with a good way to guard the rails? The slightest ding and carriage will "catch" each time it hits the imperfection. A lightweight thin-aluminum or even plastic guard would be ideal, but the profile of the guard would have to large enough to allow the carriage to move under it. Any ideas?
