Hey guys-first off i'd just like to say that i'm new hear.
So please forgive any silly errors- im pretty certain i have the right category for posting in-but please forgive me if i haven't .

Its halloween as you all know, and i decided to give making a horror short a go.Never done horror before ,but thought it would be a fun idea.
I learned a huge amount when it came to shooting.
You have to be much more tighter and carful when shooting and everything has to be mapped out to perfection.

Here it is incase nobody wants to read my paragraphs :P

I hope you guys like it- i know there are bits that aren't perfect and perhaps could have been shot better but,as Da vinchi once said "Art is never finished- merely abandoned."
I learned a huge amount from doing it and am pleased with the knowledge i have gained .But if you guys perhaps think off anything that you think could help- please share it with me!

Thank you for your time guys, and i hope to hear from you all soon,

-Z

Good job! It was entertaining and looked professional. Made me jump in my seat a few times.

If you don't mind sharing, could you tell us how you did the special effects with gun shots and blood splatter?

Thanks guys!
Great to have such a positive response!

for the Gun shots I went into adobe after effects-and Put in a 1 frame long picture of a muzzle flash, and turned it's "mode " to 'screen' ,which gets rid of the black (it was against a black background).
I also added some smoke ( steam from an iron in front of a black screen) and changed it's "Mode " the same way.
if you want to put the cherry on top-you can add an 'adjustment layer' and change it's colour to an orangy redy colour and then trim it to 1 frame long-the same frame of the muzzle flashes and then just mask it out so it is only on the places where there would be light cast from the flash.

for the blood i got the same smoke and tinted it red,and for the blood on the screen,i got some pictures of blood splatter on a white background ,got rid of the white so they were just by them selves, enlarged them a ton and added a slight blur as they would be out of focus if they were that close to the lens.
Hope this helped you guys and i would defiantly recomend checking out some of "Freddiew"'s tutorials-they cover what i said in a bit more detail.

thanks so much guys! :D

to bad for the hiss sound (noise)...maybe you can more or less lower it by doing some highcut (eq)

someone's cellphone was not switched off..... static sounds of "tektek tek tek tek"

the acting is ok ...but...it's ok ...and that's it...not "whaaw great".

the "suspens" is good. only the end... For me the "zombie, monster, whatever" dies to fast....in a way..

I think that the things you learned during the shoot are:

- have a shotlist with drawings

- if you think "naaaaah, this can be shot in 5minutes", it actually takes 5 hours

- continuity is important
