beginner light kit

Just wondering how much do you have to spend on the kit? The kit will do okay for interviews but for small films no. It would be much better to put it together piece by piece and just get an empty case.

have you ever used these lights?
if not you might want to test them out first

because you might be able to get away with those clamp on lights at home depot.
you can get like a 250w light and there good if you're just doing interviews and small films.

There are tons of posts on this subject, including this kit as I recall, within the last couple of months. Try using the search feature.

This is a very FAQ and many here would suggest buying lights individually this way you get what you need rather then what a manufacturer wants to sell in a package. I, for one, haven't begun my quest to buy lights but when I do I will follow the advice here:

Thanks to Dan for sharing the link with me and others in similar posts on this forum!

Please don't expect to light a film with the same kit that you'll use for a one or two person sit down interview. You'll need lots more. Again this is something frequently discussed here. I think there's a thread about 6 below this one discussing lighting for films. When you get to films, you're almost certainly looking at a situation where you will rent a boatload of gear!!!

A good reference is the Vortex Media DVD on setting up lighting. It includes a shopping list for a one person interview kit.
