Just some before and after CC grabs

The original thread with a youtube link to a scene WITHOUT final cc is here.
That clip also doesn't have the cool new title that you see in the grabs.

I remember this from before...your CC looks pretty marginal actually - looks like you just adjusted the levels and maybe added a faint yellow tint is all

UMMM Yeah..... not sure what you thought I ment by "CC."
Just incase: I ment Color Correction (which I'm sure you knew.)
And just incase here's a definition:"The adjustment of color values in an image to remove unwanted effects, improve color, characteristics or add color qualities."
Here's another:"Using a computer to adjust, change or manipulate a color image, such as retouching, adjusting color balance, color saturation, contrast, etc."

Sooo yeah... "looks like you just adjusted the levels and maybe added a faint yellow tint...." at least you know what I ment. LOL

much deeper and richer colors in the color correction
a much grittier look which defiantly helps the mood you were going for if im not wrong
how does it look in full 720x480 though? because it looks like alot of quality was lost

Heh pardon me. Slight misunderstanding there....basically i guess i got confused with color grading, and had expected a more drastic 'look' for the footage. But it still looks great

not all CC needs a drastic look. infact, most CC in the pro realm is just matching footage together. a good Colorist doesnt crate wild looks, but can match footage so it looks like it was shot in the same lighting color, and time of day.

I am not sure if I like the yellow tint. I would think something a little cooler looking would probably fit these images better.

You should do your CC before you add your text. Text has a tendency not to survive multiple generations very well.

Maybe, but you have complete control over your text. If you want it to have a tint, give it a tint. You don't need CC for that.

The basic color correction, matching the shots to each other (exposure only since the lighting temp never changed) was done prior to anything else. The final CC is very "abusive" (can't think of a better way to describe it) and I wanted everything to have that deteriorated funky look. But that's an excellent tip, thnx.

Yeah I like cooler looks too, especially the cooler, desated looks that everyone is into right now. But I really wanted to focus on something that would stick out of the pack when people saw it. Whether people like it or hate it, atleast they remember it just from the look. As a matter of fact my wife HATES it, but me and the rest of the gang freakin love it.

Honestly there's quit a bit of noise and general grungyness. I prefer cleaner more prestine images but you're right about me wanting that grittier mood. It kinda feels, for lack of a better word "icky."

It's weird because I actually wrote this for a dirty look. I've been waiting to get the money for a Brevis, SGPro or M2 with a HVX200 to shoot the treatment for another more mainstream idea. Well I got tired of waiting and developed this idea that would benefit from "lesser" production asthetics.

Thnx for everyones input, it is much appreciated!

The cc'd images look better, with a bit more pop to them.

Just IMO - you could probably easily loose that touch of blue below the blind if you wanted, image might look a tad cleaner.
The white values in the cc'd images appear (without checking) to be over 100 ire in a couple of spots - the cigarette, light.

THis isnt related to cc but - almost everything in that kitchen is white, unless there was a specific reason for him to wear white in this scene another color would bring him off the walls a but more.

The white t is mostly so the blood would show but also and maybe more importantly to the audience, any other light colored t wouldn't be "hood" knowimsayin. it's pretty much black or white around here as far as ts go.

I zebra'd the scene to 80%. Only the spot, where the range light originates, was over and obviously the lighter which I didnt check. offcourse all the contrast induced more blowouts.

Dude! I just watched this on Vimeo! Man this was off the chain! I see you shot on the DVX100a then rendered at 720p. What does that do for the video. Does it uprez it? But man that was so tight. The story was intense and grabbed you. That shoot out was raw and the fight was real street. I haven't seen nothing like this from those distributors dropping "Urban films".
