beeping

I was recently on a shoot and was using a lav mic but I was hearing a fast beeping noise coming from the channel from camera mic. Occasionally I could hear it from the lav mic. It seemed to be about the same speed as the light flashing on the P2 card. So far I have not been able to hear in edit suite. Anyone else had this problem

Some HVXs have had beeping issues and can be repaired by Panasonic at their authorized service centers. If you're in the field and run into this issue, try recording in slot 2 as it appears to be immune (or, well, more immune) to any beeping issues. But basically it's a warranty repair issue if you run into it.

Thanks Barry. I went to the Pana Service site and called K&M in Atlanta. They said it the camera was older than a year it would not be covered. Do that sound right? If not covered, any idea what it would cost to fix?

Thanks,

I'm not sure how much this relates to the HVX, but, we have an HPX500 that beeps exactly as you said. Nothing is laid to the cards, so we've just learned to deal with it. We've never been able to record anything to the cards to send to Panasonic as it only happens in the headphones. We have tried everything short of sending the camera back to Panny, which is probably the only way to really get it resolved. The good news is that as long as nothing is laid to the cards, its only an annoyance.

I think the issue I, and possibly you, are experiencing is different than what most of the other people have been talking about in this forum ad nauseam.

Good luck to you,
Mike

Last i heard it doesn't matter if your camera was out warranty or not, i bought my HVX second hand and as soon as i heard the beep it went straight into panasonic here and was fixed for free.

Yes the HPX500 does beep as well, however im not sure whether or not they've discovered a fix for the issue in the 500 yet.. i maybe wrong.

I think you may be right but it sure scares the hell out of you thinking your sound is compromised.

You really said it there.
Every time we get a new sound guy, they lose their minds having to listen to the beeping. I just wish we had the couple weeks it would take to be without the camera to get it fixed.
To tell you the truth, I'm so used to it now, I barely hear it anymore.
