GH3 Beauty camera advice?

Hi everyone. I use mostly panasonic hmc150s and an hmc40 for most work. What I want is a camera for beauty shots, such as shallow DOF love stories, and single camera interviews, artsy special shots, and maybe even join the other cameras in multi camera shoots sometimes.

I've been looking at the blackmagic cinema camera. I akready have a few canon lenses. Nothing great. Just a cheap wide angle, 70-300, and a decent tamron.

I'm also looking at a GH3. Seems it might be easier to match the other panasonics. Plus I like the fact it does 1080 /60p.

I'm really pretty ignorant about these and dont know which would suit me better. I would probably use ons of my video cameras to shoot for audio purposes and sync.

I dont know how much extra equipment would be required for either camera.

Any advice would be appreciated.
 
I really think you can't go wrong with the GH3, it can use almost any lens you can find, and the new MetaBones SpeedBooster should make fast lenses and shallow DOF much easier to find for the Micro 4/3 format.

And if you change your mind down the road, it should be very easy to sell a GH3 camera.
 
I just bought another used GH2 for $500. Nikon's 50mm f1.8D is one of the sharpest lenses ever made and also one of the cheapest lenses Nikon sells. A Chinese adapter costs around $20 so for around $650 total, you have your beauty camera. That will get you in the game and give you the shallow DOF you are looking for. Now if you end up hating it, the downside to get rid of it is is pretty minimal. IF you LOVE IT, well then you can go spend your butt off buying the GH3 and all the glass your little heart desires !!!

I haven't touched a GH3 yet, but seeing how you are shooting the older 150s, I'd be a bit concerned about the GH3 being a bit to far adavanced to get them to match up well in post. I could be all wet on that, but that's something that would cross my mind if I was you.

From what i read, you will notice a considerable difference in resolution between the 150 and a GH2/3. They may not intercut very well.

Nonsense. Simply downrez your GH3 footage to 480p, then uprez back to 1080, and I bet you they will look remarkably similar!

I'll look at the gh2 as well.

Intercutting with the hmc150s would be more of a bonus than a priority.
My main intended use be using the beauty cam for single camera shoots where I need a look I can't get with my regular eng video cameras and higher resolution.
I'd probably record the audio with a B camera for syncing in post.
