Beachtek DXA-5Da questions

What have been your experiences with the beachtek dxa-5da? I shot a scene recently and got a pretty annoying hiss. Also this is not the 20khz "inaudible tone" in the left channel, this is a hiss. So my questions are.

Is it the beachtek or is it my mic that is most likely causing the hiss?
has anyone else gotten this hiss?
How can I remove this in post?
What is the G1 to G2 switch used for?

depends what camera you are using. GH1 had problems with early version of the Beachtek DXA-5DA
