Hi all,
I have another video to share with you all using the DVX200 in 4K DCI and UHD-60.
See it here.

Basically the video is incorporating a few different elements of experimentation. DVX200 + glidecam + built-in 2.39:1 safety guide lines. The video was edited on and exported from a 4096x1714 timeline.
I've used this combination a couple times, but this time I decided not to shoot in V-log. I've found that V-log creates a lot of banding problems with the gradients of a blue sky.

A little Lumetri work done, but for the most part it's just SCN3 straight out of the camera and a polarizer slapped on.

Anyway, thanks for watching!

North Carolina beaches look remarkably similar to south Texas beaches. DVX200 could not be an easy thing to manage flying on a sled. That bob in the yaw is almost a thing, but you're running on sand, so...yeah, forgiven! lol Footage looks great overall.

Haha, thanks for the pass.
The wind was the bigger issue than the sand though. I have a really hard time operating a glidecam in the wind with the DVX200's flipout screen. I can reduce wind-catching angles by removing the lens hood, but the camera just doesn't have the symmetry of a DSLR.
Have any ideas for glidecams in wind?

Best thing is to have a grip/assistant Hollywood a 4x4' courtesy between you and the wind. Sunbounce even makes a thing called Wind-killer.

Oooh haha, I was hoping for a skill/technique based solution. I guess it's just practice practice practice!

Nice footage. Is it me, I'm seeing two different colors in the sky. Looks like a turquoise at the horizon. I had this happen to me and Barry Green suggested a setting change that has fixed it, might try that and see if it works, if you see the same thing that I am seeing.
Search for it here.

No sir. Obviously practice-makes-perfect and honing your skills and personal technique is going to be the best thing you can do....with anything in life, not just flying steadicams...but sometimes, you just need a guy to run with you and flag the wind lol

I see what you mean. I found your post...I'll experiment with the knee settings. Thanks!

Stuff looks good! What variable frame rate settings are you using? I've had a lot of trouble getting usable 120fps stuff in certain situations, especially wide shots; the footage is just too soft. Just curious what you had going on there.

Thanks! I actually didn't use the VFR function, only 60fps via UHD. The birds and the waves in slo-mo is just 60fps slowed down to 40%. I agree about the softness of 120fps...almost not worth using it.

Great job with the glidecam - what beach is this? I live in S. Florida and have similar setting.
