Does this mean the Alexa 65 I just bought with a Western Union money order for $500,000 from him is a scam?

He told me he was going to ship it to me from Egypt via a flying pig, but that he didn't want the pig to die from heat exhaustion so he was just waiting for Egypt to freeze over.

The thread on EOSHD is 46 pages long and the story gets weirder and weirder.

On a sport related site I frequently visit, there was a similar - though, without fraud - incident. Posting under a "real" name, an individual claimed to be a little known American player being employed in a foreign league. For a couple of years, you could read accounts of his daily travails ... until, one day, someone blew up his cover. And those "first person account" posts ended immediately.

I'm sad. I read the thread on EOSHD. I'm really glad that for once no one mentioned this guy's nationality. I'm an Egyptian as well, but never really lived there. I constantly hear (even from my family, the non-egyptian half) that lying is in our culture. This is really hurtful and that the filmmakers I follow online handled this case individually just goes to show that this is a kick-ass community.

I would read a lot of his posts, it did look like he was regurgitating information as far as camera advice goes. The scam thing is appalling. I can't get over how the people scammed, and the people engaging this guy are willing to go along and give him a chance.

This guy incrementally made it a tiny bit harder for people from there trying to do things straight up. I'm sorry I had to mention but my heart sank when I read the thread.

I frankly don't like what ES did and think he deserves some rigorous action, but it's super big of everyone there to work with him constructively on the refund.

Sorry I had to bring this up. Really sucks to know this guy hails from the same place.

Hmm, I only read a few pages of that thread and the end of it, but it all seems odd. Sounds like the situation is being rectified though so that's something.

I have to be honest and say that i'm not that sympathetic to that site. I signed up a few weeks ago because I felt that there was more content and discussion about the filmmaking products/software I own and I wanted some in-depth discussion...I make a few harmless posts and share some of the video content i've made recently and next thing I know i'm banned. For no reason whatsoever. I tried contacting the guy who owns the sight, Andrew Reid or whatever and nothing. To me, that's weird and disrespectful so I put this thing with Ebrawhim down to karma.

I could only stomach a few pages, but that thread is bizarre to say the least. Putting his story aside, there's a number of disturbing posts.

I used to visit EOShd years back. Couldn't stand the egos from that site. I'm sure that contributed to "dslr" psychopathism.

lying is not a part of Egyptian or Arabic culture, I deal with real people from all levels every day and lying is a bad thing for them all.

The brightest thing about that thread, that many people couldn't judge Ibrahim immediately and made dozens of excuses until they are certain about the case.

I hope that the 3 scammed people gets their money soon, and for Ibrahim I wish that God shows him the right path.
