BC-U1 charger - charging correctly?

Hi,

Can you charge the battery by connecting the DC lead to the EX1? (meaning having the battery inserted into EX1, not the charger?

Nope. Page 24 of owner's manual: "The battery pack mounted on the camcorder is not charged even if you set the mode switch of the BC-U1 to the charge position"

To charge battery remove it from the camera and put it in the charger
