Setups to end all setups talk. BBC devised setups for all HD cameras and SDX900 to mimick the response of the negative film. You will get the same 11-stop latitude, you will not have to white balance (but must black balance) and you will end up with a greatly flexible picture for color grading ( a must). Go to www.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/whp/whp034.shtml . Using those setups it is better to underexpose (0.5 f-stop). The one thing still missing comparing to the the film-style work is the DOF. You can achieve this with Zeiss DigiPrimes on 2/3' cameras shoooting wide open, or using adapters with projection glass. A lot of useful hints are on www.dvdoctor.net and search Alan Roberts (the BBC engineer responsible).
