Bavaria Rain - first shots with the FS100

Postmaster

Dark Side of the Camera
Those are some first tests I did with my FS100.
Nothing great, just a rainy day in Bavaria.
I did some of the shots handheld and stabilized in post - which did not really work too well.

One thing that I really need to solve is motion rendering.
From my HVX200 I am used to super silky smooth pans - on the FS100 I get a lot of jitter/shuttering - even on slow pans - I try 50i next time and see what I can get.

Yeah, looked that way to me as well. I shot with mine today but didn't do any tripod pans. I thought the motion blur looked smooth for 24p (1/48) and so did the director. Wonder what that could be? Is the adapter tight? Was there a wind?

(I say this because I didn't notice the problem on the inside shots)

Great, creative shots. Nice use of DOF. Happy ending. Does tripod head/drag have any roll in this, or is it strictly a camera/lens IS issue?

What is that verticle bar on the far rt of the screen, it looks a little darker than the rest. Maybe it's my old laptop that im on. see if it's in the original footage if it is not my pc creating the bar.

I only see it up to the 48 second mark. then it's no longer ther. hmmm

I'm pretty sure the darker vertical bar is from the lens adapter. I had the the same problem with my GH2 with a cheaper adapter. Switching over to a better adapter solved the problem for me.

The vertical bar could be a reflection of the opening to the sensor, i.e. light hitting the body next to the sensor reflected in the rear element of the lens. I occasionally get the same thing on my AF100 but I've only seen it on the 11-16 lens.

Shutterspeed was 1/50 framerate 25p.
The tripod and head is silky smooth - no problem here.

That dark bar on the right side is probably a reflection on the 4x4 ND in the mattebox. I don't used the mattebox inside.
