Battle of the Sub $3K 4K's. AX100 v the BMC4K.

Can the in camera sharpening be turned off (as I always did in the EX1 menu) so the amount you want to add can be done in post.

No, you'll have to soften in post. Frankly I see no over-sharpening, just a lot of real detail which I think some mistake for over-sharpening.

I finally found the manual at:
http://support.sony-asia.com.edgesuite.net/consumer/IM/4534651111.pdf
The menu lists start on page 41.

Another interesting question, it has a mini HDMI port for copying files to an external drive. Can it record directly to an external drive?

The 120fps of the cars above was jerky, unfortunately. It might be 24p was converted to 30p when uploaded. Has anyone looked at the original footage. I rarely do slo-mo, but it would be nice to have if it worked.

On the EX-1 the over-sharpening resulted in an edge that was almost cartoonish, rather than an organic roll off of the edge.

Can anyone post a 1:1 crop of the edge of a face close up? That would be enough to push me into buying one.

Finally some close ups of faces. I don't seen any over sharpening edges and the skin tones are nice too. Decent DOF displayed.
