Hi I am thinking to get a7s ,I hope to find some answer
1. Is 7s (in crop mode ) is so good in low light situation like fs100 ?
2. Is crop mode in 7s is noticeable worse ?
3. is anyone match 7s with fs100 in post production ? How easy is it ?
4 I there any limit in one long record ( 12min ? 29min ? ) ?????
5 On 64gb card, how many minutes can I record ( XAVC )
THANKS

Hi Tom
since nobody else answered I'll give it a go - you other tech guys correct me if I'm wrong.
1) better
2) than what?
3) works fine in premiere - a bit more heavy on your computer than avchd but not much.
4) Limit is 29 min. - this is one of the few advantages the fs100 holds over the a7s - along with xlr and much better preamps - which is a bit deal.
5) 64gb card shows 2 hr 41 min of record time

I used to own the fs100 and liked it alot - but the a7s is a very serious contender, and imo beats it IQ wise.

I think:
1) A7s is approx. 2(3) stops better in lowlight, depending on your picture profile
2) cop mode on the A7s is not really worse, you just loose a bit of resolution
3) to match both, it won't be that easy. A7s has cinegammas, FS100 has no cinegammas
the gammas will be different, but I think you can match both of them via picture profile

I decided I was interested :p

And just for fun...

(edit: I haven't become resolution-obsessed, I still value DR more than resolution)

C100 looks great. Both the FS100 and a7s are using sharpening quite a bit more. The numbers look worse on all of them except C100.

But man, I just don't trust Slashcam. They made so bad tests ages ago that it will take years or maybe never for me to trust them. Even those crops are different.

Slashcam doesn't usually talk about the settings they used on each camera. I don't see any sharpening on my a7s. But I haven't tested it against a chart yet (maybe next week?).

Samuel, out of curiosity, is there a chart that compares line pairs resolved between the A7s in APS-C mode VS the PMW-F3?

i just did a project with a7s + F3 and to me F3 owns with sharpness and 10bit goodness.
