Battery SNAFU

Yo

I was at a shoot for a live event. My big battery (3 hour one) was at half way empty then all of a sudden it just died out on me. I restarted it and the battery was dead. This has happened before, the battery will be full and when in use will act normal until half way...then it just dies.

Has this happened to any of you?
Any way to remedy this? Thanks

Similar thing happend to me with the small one (the one you get with the camera).
One thing I noticed is that when I use the camera for a long time without turning it off - the battery lasts longer!
For example, if I use it for certain period of time and the batery signal shows it's half used, if I continue using it it will go down gradually untill it reaches the end. But, if I turn it off and back on again - it goes right to the end and dies in couple of minutes.

I think that powering on uses a lot of battery power.

Cheers!

For me, its the opposite. I notice this happens more when I leave the camera on long, without turning it off... I would give anything to be in your position darmanb.

So, anyone else knows about this problem, experienced it or know a quick trick?

I have three DVXuser batteries that I purchased at the same time. One of them I deeply discharged it by accidently leaving the camera on in the bag. It recharged but has been flakey every since. Like you describe, Dizkoteck, it will appear to have plenty of charge remaining and suddenly shutdown. After shutting down, I can put it back in the camera later and sometimes it will run some more. So, deeply discharging the battery has apparently damaged it. It's been charged and discharged a number of times since then but that has not reconditioned it. I still use it but not when I need to depend on it. Don't know if this could be your situation but the behavior is similar.

It really sucks, especially on live performance and event shoots. So lemme get this straight, is it better to store batteries charged fully or cleaned out completely?
