Battery Question

My new 5 hour LI-ION battery pack just ran out of juice so I put it on the charger and the charging light went off after being on for 30 seconds. I immediately thought it was a bad connection so I took it off and put it back on and the same thing happened. Is this something to be concerned about? I don't want to take it off again. Do these have a memory? This really sucks!!!

Re: Battery Question

How many times have used this one...or is it brand new?

If it is brand new, then the problem most probably lies in the battery, otherwise in the charger.

jsut a guess

Re: Battery Question

It's brand new. When I first took it out of the package I charged it per the directions and used it until it ran out of juice then tried to re-charge it. So this is really the second charge.

Problem Solved:
Sorry I wasted your time! What happened was I didn't have in on the charger tight enough. Earlier I placed it on the charger and pulled down on the contacts until I saw the lights come on but this time I gave it a really good crank I mean a REALLY GOOD ONE! and I heard a nice big click and it seems to be charging fine. A little elbow grease did the trick!!! Sorry I pushed the panic button, I've had some back luck with batteries in the past!

Re: Battery Question

Probably this is battery fault. Sometimes Li-Ion cells inside battery become "overdischarged" and charger don't recognize them. Try to leave your battery inside charger approx. 12 hours, and try then. Li-Ion batterie's voltage usually rises slowly without load and when it reaches 2,7-3 volts, charger will start to charge properly.
It' good idea to charge Li-Ion's whenever possible...usually age is batteries first enemy, not charge/discharge cycles.

Re: Battery Question

kind of off the subject but is it worth buying the anton bouer adapter for the dvc80 or just sticking to the biggest panasonic battery.

Dont feel bad.. 90% of the people that have problems with the DVXuser.com cells have the same problem.. end up sending back good cells. The OEM charger has a little lip that you gotta make sure is past for the charge to happen... sometimes you gotta push it really in there. I cant say enough good things about the lenmar chargers.

If you have a heavy investment in Anton Bauer batteries already, the adapter might make sense.  If you don't have any Anton Bauer batteries yet, then I can't imagine how it'd be worth it to you to spend a thousands dollars on them (and haul around all that weight) when you could just use the lightweight onboard DVX battery and get nearly six hours of runtime from it... or the excellent DVXUSER.COM batteries, which give you a full 4 hours of runtime for just $45.

Barry,

Since I get 4-4.5 hours out of the D54's, how are you getting 4 out of the smaller ones? Also, any plans to make some larger (5400) models?

Re: Battery Question

I get almost six hours out of the D54. Not always continuous recording, but with frequent zooming and always the LCD panel. Over the course of a six hours I might shoot two or three tapes.

Re: Battery Question

Jarred is there a specific lenmar charger that you can recommend for the DVXuser batteries? I just received the batteries today and would like a better charger.
