Battery meter not working properly.....

I have a DVX100 with about 140hrs. on it. The other day I was shooting a bowfishing tourney and my wife was running the camera......I checked the battery life before i started shooting and the meter was full, since i was using a 5600mah battery I knew it should last the whole 3.5 hour shoot........well about 2 hours in my wife says the screen just went black! I looked and the camera was stone dead could not restart it or anything. I swapped batteries hoping for the best and it fired right up,whew! But I asked my wife if she noticed the battery indicator or the tally light flashing and she said no, it just died......The same thing has been happening all week for me, the indicator says full but the battery will go dead w/o warning! Now I have noticed if I shut the camera off after running on standby for a couple of hours, the meter will show 3/4 charge and if I do this again it will show 1/2 charge, but the meter will not show drain whatsoeverif the camera is left on continuously.........I hope someone has some advice because this is a seriously inconvient and possiblly shot losing problem as I shoot outdoor videography and if the battery dies at the wrong moment I could lose a once in a lifetime shot.:crybaby:

This is a known bug with the earlier 100 models and also 80. The battery meter refreshes only on turn off/turn on. It is annoying. :-(

wow, I didn't know that.
there's another thing I just learned today:)

so basically, everyone who has the early models would have to make a big "guess" for battery life hu?
that's :zombie_smiley:
