Battery Grip for 7D

To attach a battery grip on the 7D, you need to remove the battery compartment cover.

Anyone ever done this?

It feels like it will just break off if pulled too much.

Thnx.

There is a little spring that holds the hinge on, move it back and it will come off. This is by design and how it is supposed to be, same for Nikons as well.

seems kinda bulky, i like to stay away

The added bonus is you get two batteries and they are very easy to swap out, even when mounted on a Rig. Also when added to a rig it brings the eye height of the screen better in line if you use a shoulder mount.

i just purchased a grip and i hafta admit, the door being at the lcd side of the camera definitely makes reaching the battery more easier and practical to reach if you need to exchange while mounted(tripod,jib.etc).It was truly a good purch for me,it came with 2 batts as well(aftermarket without communication with the camera, but for the price it was a easy choice)and oh yeah it makes your camera look better than the next guys on the set..lol

Hey Jewiz,

where did you get your battery grip with the batts? Do you need another charger to get them charged?

Cheers,

C

Actually the extra weight the grip adds helps to hold the camera quite a bit more stable, it also helps if you have big hands.

I ordered it from one of the ebay sellers, i think with tax and shipping it came to about $124.00. As far as the charger yes i use an aftermarket for the batteries that it came with. On the canon charger the aftermarket does'nt show up on the indicator,i guess thats why they send each oem battery with its own charger. i'll look in my emails for the site and when i have a chance i'll pm you with it,cool?
