Battery Drainage Issue May Be Solved!

I called Sony (Laredo, TX, I believe) about the battery problem. I was told, in a very Sir-this-is-our-policy tone that I have to ship it to Sony, LA at my own expense. That means, at least a $100 if you include the insurance charges. I know some of you have received shipping labels from Sony. Could someone please give me some info on this (phone number / person / whatever)? This may help others too.

Try Sony in San Jose, CA. They're on Zanker Road.

Thanks. Called them. No good. "This is a service issue. We don't send any prepaid shipping labels." How can this be service issue when thousands of cameras out there have this problem?

Anyway, just hoping you've info on the person you dealt with.

I did all my dealings with Wing Tseung.

It's possible that Sony got flooded with repairs on this model and changed their pre-payed shipping possible. Just pure speculation--I could be wrong.

Well, you CAN get a label out of them but it takes some doing. They sent me one when they screwed up my camera while they were doing the first repairs (firmware, paint issues, crud inside lens). They sent me another one when the d**n thing died again last week and wouldn't focus to infinity. They are supposed to ship it back tomorrow so I hope to have it by Thursday. Then, I'm figuring that I'll have at least two troublefree weeks of shooting before it has to go back again <tonguefirmlyplantedincheek>. ;-)
