FS5: Battery display

Hi Sony,

I wish I could display the battery in minutes and not percent.

64%, 50%, 25% they all mean nothing to me. It would be great to know the actual time left on the battery.

In next firmware update please :) :)

Hmmmmmm... tough one. I get what you mean, and an (accurate) minutes display would be useful. However, as an FS-7 owner I'm aware that the minute-readout I get is hugely optimistic, and not really reliable at all!

I think this is due to the fact that whilst the camera knows the voltage-decline curve for the battery (so what % is remaining), it doesn't necessarily know how much power it's using. I say this because my readout is pretty accurate when using 'dumb' glass, but as soon as I use any IS lens, it becomes 'optimistic' as mentioned, as if it's not takin into account the extra charge drawn to power the lens.

I guess my point is that whilst there could certainly be hardware modifications to allow your request, I very much doubt it's within the realms of a FW tweak.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I know this is not what you want to hear but i had a similar problem with an old Sony camcorder and so what i did was a graph, i was not perfect but it gave me a pice of mind as to when to or not change batteries during long shoots

cinematographer_dop i know what you mean and was thinking of doing that, but can't be bothered ;)

Im now just changing battery at around 25% just so i don't get caught. I got a BP-U30 & 60 and ive gone a whole day with this workflow and combo.

Would just be nice to have minutes but i'll adapt :)
