Battery Connection Replacement?

About a week ago on a shoot, our HVX200 got bumped into a wall and the battery popped off of it. Upon closer inspection, I could see that the battery was actually ripped off, and that the four plastic tabs that hold the battery in place have become stressed and cracked and will come off at any time. Currently the battery still locks into place but I am concerned that once those tabs come off then it may not lock (nor the AC adapter).

My question is, is there a way to purchase just that replacement part? I noticed that it seems to be a plastic plate that is in the rear of the camera. Is there any way to get just a replacement part for that plate or a way to fix this without incurring a lot of expense? We do not have the funds for an expensive replacement or repair and I was hoping there would be a simple fix for this.

I'm pretty sure that early HVXs had battery tab issues and that Panasonic had some kind of fix. Contact Jan to find out more.

Jan Crittenden. She works for Panasonic. She is very active on this site (answering questions and helping problem solve and such). If you do a search on the HVX battery tab prob her profile should come up and you can contact her... Not sure if you're problem is related to the defect, as you bumped the compartment, but you can always give it a shot.

Not sure how old your camera is, but yes, the battery tab issue was pretty widespread on early HVX200s. By the time the 200A and the 170 came out, I think that they have improved it a lot because I never hear about broken tabs anymore.

Jan would definitely be the one to talk to although it sounds as if your camera could have just been abused too. Not sure how they would address that. When I had four of our early HVX200s battery tabs replaced under warranty, the tech told me that if they wouldn't have been covered under warranty, it would have cost about $400.00 to replace the tab piece.
