Battery compatibility question

I'm getting some accessories that use Sony batteries, and I have a (possibly dumb) question. If something states it uses Sony NP-F550 batteries, does that mean it can also use F570, F7xx, F9xx, etc?

The other batteries are higher capacity and larger size, so they might not fit physically. Electrically there is no problem using larger capacity batteries, the upside is longer run time. HTH

Wait, they don't fit which way?

Here let me just explain the dilemma: I am thinking of purchasing a LED light that says it uses NP-F550 batteries, and a camera monitor that says it comes with a NP-F970 battery plate. I'd like to purchase one set of batteries to work with both, doesn't matter to me which kind. Is this possible?

You are good. You did not mention what equipment it would be for. Some cameras have smaller battery compartments with doors, and the big batteries might not go in or the door would not close.

Yeah, NP550=smallest and lightest with the shortest charge. Cheapest too.

I decided on NP770s for my LED light panels and for my Lilliput monitor because they are not only less bulky and heavy, but they (Wasabi Power Brand) offered the best value for the charge time - meaning that the NP970 was roughly 30 or 40 percent more power, but nearly 80 percent more expensive.
