batteries for a dvx 100a

when my dvx was given to me it came with a 1600mah battery. by reading posts on here i realized i needed a better battery so i went on ebay and purchased a $40.00 7.2 volt 5400mah battery. the discription said the battery will last up to 10 hrs. now i recently purchased a 5600mah dvx user battery from the lanmine store in which i`m assuming will last a long time. i read some where it might last 5 hrs. i also took the liberty and called b&h photo to learn that the panasonic 5400mah batteries they sell actually lasts 8 hrs or better, but they cost like $115.00. now i have not been able to actually test the batteries to their capacity yet my question is,

if the $40.00 ebay battery and the $115.00 panasonic battery from b&h photo are same in power (5400mah) lets say, then they should last about the same right?

if so then the dvx user battery should give at least 10 hrs simply because its power rating is 5600mah right?

None of these batteries will give you more than 5 hours powering the DVX100. Please check out our FAQ to calculate run time.

yeah... all of the batteries that are listed around 5400-5600 (and above that for that matter) will all have roughly the same runtime with some variance likely from brand to brand and even battery to battery within the same brand...

Those claims of 8 hours sound much more like far fetched, absolute best, best case scenario with a little added on after that :)

A dvxuser battery on a dvx would probably yield you 3-5 hours of constant usage depending on your type of usage (lcd open or closed, how much zooming and such is going on, etc). I've never used one with a dvx (someone else might be able to give you some reliable real world numbers on it with a dvx), but I got at least a solid 2-3 hours or more on my hvx with them regularly. Never really timed it though. Just know that 3-4 batteries would get me through a day easily...

And, when you add Alex's Dolgin charger into the mix, you are in a really good spot considering his charger will essentially charge up to 4 batteries in about the time it takes you to run one of them down. One of the best single gear purchases I ever made was one of his chargers. And, I'm not just saying that.

thank you for that info. i`ll stick with the dvx user batteries cause they are reasonably priced and much raved about through out this forum. i would like to read the faq but don`t know how to get to it. could someone please point me to it?

speaking of the dvxuser batteries...

Ran some numbers, and decided that we're going to bump the price back down to the holiday special that we had and keep it there permanently... batteries will now be 59/each. 54/each with orders of 4 or more.

I have 2 of the DVXuser batteries I bought 3 years ago .
Still going strong and I think the average is about 2- 2.5 hrs with the LCD open . Just guessing as it might be a little less .
